I have taken additional charge of Managing
Director, NHB from 01.05.2020. I consider
this assignment as one of the most
challenging one, particularly when scheme
guidelines and sanction process in NHB
were under review for modification/
improvement, including the pendency level
of IPA applications, subsidy claims and
grievances.
As Joint Secretary (MIDH) in the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of
India, I have been associated with the horticulture sector for quite a long time. This has helped
me to realize and take forward the mandate of NHB, its schemes and evolve suitable strategies
for horticulture development with the aim of raising the farmer’s income by ensuring
infrastructure development in the this sector.
During short span of time, I have tried to ensure that approval to IPA applications and Subsidy
Claims is put at a very fast track to provide timely help to the farming community. I have also
tried to redress large number grievances which were pending for rejection of IPA applications
and subsidy claims. I shall strive to ensure that pendency of applications is brought at zero level.
I have also asked the senior officers of NHB to suggest measures to improve the outcome of our
programmes and expedite decisions making – both by simplifying procedures, and greater use of
IT. Together with NHB staff, it will be our priority to work on measures to bring in transparency,
effectiveness and vibrancy to achieve the goals of National Horticulture Board.
Further, I have also initiated the process to analyze the present scheme components and its
pattern of assistance to revise and bring them to meet present day requirement of the industry. I
welcome your suggestions to make the organization more responsive to our stakeholders.
You can write to me at md@nhb.gov.in to share your feedback, suggestions and concerns.
